Do not schedule a show afterward.

This is the group splurge that beats another expensive room. The private sunset sail starts at $583 for about three hours and can carry up to ten; the public version is listed at $126 per adult and $115 per child. You are buying the skyline, harbor traffic, Point Loma, changing light, and a crew that handles the boat. For two people, compare public tickets. For a small group, private is the stronger math.

Surf Diva's one-on-one lesson is $160 for 90 minutes, plus a 16% City of San Diego surcharge: $185.60 before an optional $9 wetsuit, or $194.60 with it. That is still the best dollars-to-memory ratio here. La Jolla Shores gives beginners a sand-bottom learning zone, and private coaching spends the session on your balance, timing, and comfort—not a group median.

The reason to stay is the restored 1888 Victorian, not a generic ocean room wearing a famous address. The room rate changes by date and category, so use live inventory. The fixed math is less romantic: a mandatory $50 nightly resort charge plus 11.8% tax, $59 self-parking or $79 valet, and day parking that can reach $100. If the complete folio still feels good, book the Victorian once. If not, visit Coronado and keep your hotel money.

Jeune et Jolie is the intelligent tasting-menu alternative, not the meal after Addison. The official four-course menu is $120, and the current schedule is Wednesday through Saturday 5–10 p.m. and Sunday 4:30–10 p.m. The room feels celebratory without demanding a full $395 commitment. Make this the North County dinner when Carlsbad is the weekend's base; do not cross the county to stack two formal tastings.

The Shell earns the premium when the program uses the setting: a major orchestra night, fireworks, or an artist you would travel for. The bay, skyline, breeze, and open stage do half the production work. Prices move by show and seat. Official pages currently disagree on the facility-fee amount, so the only honest instruction is to read the facility and handling lines at checkout. On an ordinary night, lawn can be the better seat.

Stake is the right second act to a Coronado stay because it requires no county crossing. The current menu lists a 24-ounce Flannery bone-in ribeye at $130, a 16-ounce American wagyu ribeye at $92, and Japanese A5 strip at $38 an ounce. Split the Flannery, spend the appetite on sides and wine, and treat A5 as a taste. The complimentary island car is offered Wednesday through Sunday on a first-come basis; never build the reservation around it.

The facilities are the reason to book. The current brochure lists the 60-minute Relaxation Massage at $280/$290 across its pricing tiers and Zestós Dryfloat at $295/$305; confirm which tier applies to your date. A facility-only pass is $100. The brochure describes an 18% suggested gratuity that can be adjusted. Arrive early, use the hydrothermal circuit, and let this become a half-day. A massage-and-exit is the weak version.

The cliffs and history are real. So is the 2026 nonresident weekend math: $322 for South, plus a $50 nonrefundable booking fee, with a $48 cart if you choose one. That is $372 walking or $420 with cart before the rest of the day. The smarter play is North twilight: $123 on weekends or $97 on weekdays. Choose South only when playing the specific U.S. Open course is the point, not because its famous name sounds like mandatory San Diego.
