The San Diego List*
WEEKEND
About

By locals. For locals. (Visitors welcome.)

The San Diego List is a small group of friends who love everything about this city — the coast, the canyons, the taco trucks, the farmers markets, the neighborhoods most guides never reach.

We started on Instagram. For years we ran pages about visiting and living in San Diego — the outdoors, the food, the weekends — and grew them to a combined 200,000+ followers. But a feed is a terrible home for a list. The good stuff scrolls away, and the answer you needed is buried under everything posted since. So we took everything we know and built it a permanent home. That’s how The San Diego List was born.

We keep ourselves semi-anonymous on purpose — the city is the byline. What we put our name on is the work: consistent, quality lists of what to do, where to go, and why it’s worth your time.

Here’s what surprised us most: locals born and raised here keep telling us they had no idea about places we take them. That’s who this is for — locals who want to know their own city better, and visitors who don’t want to dig through TikTok and Instagram to find the coolest spot. We already did the digging.

And it’s not just our taste. Every ranked place shows its current Google and Yelp ratings with real review counts — because what all of you say matters, and we’d rather show you the evidence than ask you to trust us blind.

How we rank
RESEARCHED OBSESSIVELY

Every list starts with dozens of candidates and most don’t survive. We dig through what people are actually saying right now — not what a press release said five years ago.

CROSS-CHECKED EVERYWHERE

Every place shows at least one verified Google or Yelp rating with its review count; we attempt both and never fill a gap by guessing. We also confirm open status, check the hours, and date the evidence.

RE-VERIFIED QUARTERLY

Rankings decay. Kitchens change hands, patios close, the line stops being worth it. Every list gets re-verified on a quarterly cycle, and the updated date on each list is real.

Invite us. Seriously.

We love being invited to try new places — openings, tastings, launches, the dish you think we got wrong. Two things stay true no matter what: sponsored or hosted content is always clearly labeled, and a spot on a ranking can never be bought. The list stays honest; that’s the whole point of the list.

Corrections & tips

Spot something wrong — a closed kitchen, changed hours, a ranking you can argue against with evidence? Email hello@thesandiegolist.com. Corrections ship in the next update cycle; good arguments sometimes reorder a list.
