The 9 Best Restaurants in Chula Vista, Ranked

11Chula Vista is where San Diego eating gets serious — seven miles from the border, holding the county’s #1 taco (El Gordo’s adobada, carved until 2am) and its #1 burrito (Lolita’s California, since 1984) inside city limits. Broadway runs the Mexican-food corridor, Third Avenue keeps the 1955-vintage village core, and Eastlake is turning into the county’s next Asian-food destination. The bayfront finally showed up too: a 39-acre park and California’s largest hotel, both new in 2025.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Getting there: 20 minutes down I-5 from downtown; the Blue Line stops at E, H, and Palomar, but it's a half-mile-plus walk east to Broadway — most nights you'll want the car
Border traffic: I-805 and I-5 carry the San Ysidro crossing — southbound crawls weekday afternoons, northbound stacks weekday mornings; time dinner around it
The walkable core: Third Avenue between E and G is the stroll — Broadway, Telegraph Canyon, and Eastlake are drives between stops
